The Takeo provincial health department said 45 out of 48 Covid-19 cases recorded in the province on May 17 were factory workers.

Health department director Nuth Sinat confirmed to The Post on May 18 that the 45 latest positive cases were workers employed at a factory in neighbouring Kandal province.

Sinat said around 400 Covid-19 cases linked to the February 20 outbreak have been recorded in the province thus far. In the last several days, nearly 1,000 people tested each day.

“The situation is under control because the latest cases were found among about 7,000 people who are in the quarantine centre. We found more cases because each day we tested 1,000 to 2,000 people.

“We hope that in one or two week, the situation will return to normal,” he said, adding that more than 100 have recovered.
