A fire destroyed or seriously damaged at least 18 houses in Chraing Chamresh I commune of the capital’s Russey Keo district late on the night of May 6. No casualties were reported, according to the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the National Police.

The department said on May 7 that the cause of the fire is so far unknown as the investigation is ongoing. Most of the destroyed houses were timber homes with concrete and brick lower levels.

It said a total of 42 truckloads of water from different units and private companies – equal to 168cu m of water – had been used to distinguish the fire.
