Kampong Cham provincial police sent five suspects to court on the afternoon of May 9 – three for allegedly involving in aggravated robbery and two for receiving stolen property.

Provincial deputy police in charge of serious crimes Heng Vuthy said the suspects were arrested separately on May 6-7.

"Three of the suspects tried to steal a motorcycle, but the owner appeared. They then pulled out a gun and fired,” he said.

The suspects were identified as residents of Kampot and Kampong Cham provinces. Police confiscated three motorcycles, 14 motorcycle number plates and a shotgun with 10 bullets.

According to Vuthy, the suspects had robbed and stolen motorcycles on 15 different occasions in Kampong Cham province. The motorcycles were sold to receivers of stolen property in Phnom Penh.

Vuthy said confessions from the three suspects aided the police investigation and lead to the arrest of receivers of stolen property from the capital’s Prek Pnov district.
