At least four people died in Mesar Brachan commune's Yot village of Prey Veng province’s Pea Reang district on June 19, with wine poisoning the likely cause of deaths, according to the local authorities.

District police chief Long Bunthoeun told The Post on June 21 that of the four victims, aged 31 to 54, three died at home while the fourth died after arriving at the hospital.

“We cannot confirm the cause of their deaths now. But we suspect that it was caused by wine poisoning because all of the victims had drunk herbal wine,” Bunthoeun said.
