A fire broke out in the capital’s Chroy Changvar district and commune on the evening of April 22, destroying four houses, according to the National Police.
Police said the fire was caused by an electrical fault, noting that no casualties were reported in the incident aside from the four zinc-roofed houses built with concrete on the ground floor and wood on the first that were destroyed along with all belongings.
The flame was extinguished completely more than an hour later, with 68 cubic metres of water used.
In the first three months of this year, fires killed 10 people and injured 25 others while also damaging 300 houses and 38 market stalls, according to the National Police’s Department of Fire Prevention, Extinguishing and Rescue.
The report shows that there were 186 fires that broke out, a decrease of 52 cases compared to the same period in 2021.
