The Ministry of Health has advised municipal and provincial governors to continue their efforts to encourage people to get vaccinated with either their initial doses or booster shots at the Covid-19 vaccination sites established at pagodas and some recreation areas over Khmer New Year.

Or Vandine, ministry spokeswoman and head of the national Covid-19 vaccination committee, said the committee will send volunteer medical workers to administer the standard two-dose vaccine regimen or third and fourth shots in Kampong Cham, Kampot, Prey Veng, Kampong Chhnang, Tbong Khmum, Kampong Thom, Pursat, Svay Rieng, Stung Treng and Kratie provinces.

The ministry requested that the provincial administrations and local authorities at all levels cooperate and coordinate with the volunteers to administer vaccinations.

Medics from the Ministry of National Defence will launch a door-to-door vaccination campaign for factory workers and at factories and enterprises in Phnom Penh and the provinces of Kandal, Kampong Speu, Battambang and Banteay Meanchey focused on booster shots.

The health ministry advised that other provinces aside from those listed above must take responsibility for launching their own door-to-door campaigns and for sending local medical workers or volunteers to administer the jabs.

They are supposed to focus on covering the entire work forces in certain factories and enterprises, especially garment workers.

The health ministry requested that all those administering vaccinations take care to note the expiration dates on the vaccines so that they will be used before they expire.

It emphasised that the campaign was focused on children aged 3 and older and those who it is their turn to be vaccinated in order to boost individual and community immunities to curb the spread of Omicron in time.
