Prime Minister Hun Sen left for a ‘special’ ASEAN summit in the Indonesian capital Jakarta today, this time without the escort of senior officials and fanfare.

After boarding the plane, Hun Sen took to Facebook posting a picture of himself seated on the plan with face mask.

He said he will join with other ASEAN leaders in an unofficial meeting on April 24. Then he will have a few other meetings with ASEAN leaders and return to Cambodia in the evening.

Upon his return, he and his delegation will have their samples taken for a test at the Phnom Penh International Airport.

“I thank authorities, armed forces, for carefully enforcing Covid-19 prevention measures in order to protect the lives of our people and provide them with food on time.

“I also thank all generous people for providing donations to the government and food assistance directly to the people,” he said.
