Prime Minister Hun Sen has encouraged Kuwait to look into the possibility of investment in Cambodia. His proposal was based on the fact that Kuwait is rich in energy resources while Cambodia is rich in food supplies.

The suggestion was made during a November 4 meeting with newly appointed Kuwait ambassador Mohamad S Alhajri at the peace palace.

“Both countries should promote trade in a way that will complement one another in the future,” said a social media post by the prime minister.

During the meeting, Alhajri said that he would try his best to promote bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He also urged both countries to implement existing agreements that the two countries had signed, such as direct flights, entry into the labour market for Cambodian migrant workers and trade on food.

Hun Sen welcomed Alhajri’s commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation, as well as all of agreements that the two countries had signed.
