Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that he had now completed his 14-day quarantine after his latest test result came back negative.

“The laboratory test result confirmed that I am negative for Covid-19 and I completed my quarantine on the evening of July 2,” he said.

The prime minister first went into quarantine on June 19 after having been exposed to the virus through an indirect contact with an unidentified Covid-19 patient. That prompted him to cancel many meetings, including one with UK foreign minister Dominic Raab scheduled for June 23.

“Among the leaders of ASEAN, maybe I'm the only one who undergo many quarantines, up to three times within the period of eight months. I hope I will not have the fourth quarantine,” he said.

To prevent a fourth quarantine, he said all people scheduled to meet him will now have to go through at least one rapid test for Covid-19. And to ensure that there is no more quarantine for him, he suggested that all non-essential meetings are held virtually instead.
