The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation is set to hold the 1st National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation later this month to guide and develop human resources for the science and technology sectors.

The event – the first of its kind – will be held on March 26-28 in the presence of Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, according to the ministry.

It announced that the government has designated March 26 to mark the day. The ministry is spearheading the government’s vision of turning Cambodia into an upper-middle income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.

“The products and services that will be exhibited include: clean water, mechanical and electronic industry, digital technology – including banking, finance, data management through real images/virtual reality technology, health systems, energy, and the agro-industry – as well as climate change related tech such as solar panels, air purifier filter systems and cooling systems,” said the ministry.

Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation Cham Prasidh said the event will increase people’s awareness of Cambodia’s long-term of science, technology and innovation. It will celebrate the research work of many of the Kingdom’s students. Cambodia’s top scientists will also be honoured.

“The event is going to contribute to developing the Kingdom’s human resources in the fields of science, technology and innovation. This is essential to ensure Cambodia continues to grow economically, socially and scientifically in the fourth industrial age,” said Prasidh.

He explained that the first and second days of the event would feature trade, investment, idea exchanges, and extensive research participation and cooperation. The third day will be free for members of the public to visit.

“I am pleased to extend an invitation to all enterprises working in the relevant fields. You are welcome to participate. Please, feel welcome to exhibit your products and services at the celebration of the 1st National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation 2023,” he said.
