A total of 58 police officials from four districts of Kampong Speu province have undergone training on printing Khmer National Identification (ID) Cards for Cambodian citizens and have received technical equipment to be used for such work.

The training, conducted on April 18, was led by provincial deputy police chief Aun Sovet, who is in charge of identification matters for police officials from Baset, Odong, Thpong, and Oral districts.

Nhem Sao, another provincial deputy police chief, told The Post that the training was provided because there is a “demand” for ID cards in the districts, which also currently lack equipment for printing the cards.

He said the Ministry of Interior’s General Department of Identification had provided mobile equipment to all districts across the country to print such cards. Upon receiving the equipment, Kampong Speu police delivered them to other districts in need.

“In big districts, we give them an additional machine for them to make ID cards for Cambodians. But training is necessary for our officials to be able to use the machine,” he said.

According to Sao, the mobile machine can record data and send it to the Department of Khmer Identification in order to produce ID cards in just 20 days.

A total of nine machines were given to the four districts during the training on April 18.
