Judges at the Khmer Rouge tribunal have dismissed an appeal from the lawyers of Khieu Samphan, who argued that the former Khmer Rouge head of state’s rights have been violated by the court’s failure to translate legal documents in a timely fashion. In a decision dated Tuesday, the court’s pretrial chamber ruled that translation work had been done “in accordance with international standards in respect of translation rights”.
