The death of a Covid-19 positive Cambodian woman at Preah Sihanouk Provincial Referral Hospital on March 26 was due to excessive blood loss and not from the disease, the Ministry of Health confirmed in a press release on March 27.

The woman, 43, was admitted to the hospital on March 20 for severe gastric ulcers and menstrual bleeding.

She had her samples taken for Covid-19 testing on March 24 and the result came back positive on the morning of March 27, hours after she passed away.

Medical specialists concluded the woman died from hypovolemic shock.
