The Ministry of Tourism has launched a new website and smartphone app called “Visit Cambodia” to attract more tourists to the Kingdom.

Ministry of Tourism spokesman Top Sopheak told The Post on Tuesday that “Visit Cambodia” is an app that helps tourists find online destinations, hotel and restaurant booking in the Kingdom.

He said the popularity of the technology will provide convenience to local and international tourists to find their preferred destinations on the site. “It is important to provide information about the potential of Cambodian tourism areas,” he said.

Minister of Tourism Thong Khon said at Monday’s “Visit Cambodia” launching in Siem Reap that digital media had played an important role in promoting the tourism potential of Cambodia.

He said the digital economy is changing the way we work in industries such as finance, health, tourism, entertainment, transportation, and through information and communication technologies.

“The promotion of digital tourism products will provide the convenience to tourists to find information about tourist destinations in Cambodia,” he said.

Cambodia Association of Travel Agents president Chhay Sivlin said the site will help attract more national and international tourists to Cambodia.

“Usually, before tours, visitors will find information about various tourist destinations on the site, so it gives them more options,” she said.

According to Sopheak, in the first nine months of this year, Cambodia received a total of 4.8 million tourists, an increase of 10 per cent over the same period last year.
