A total of 219 unexploded pieces of ordnance were found over a three-month period at a construction site for a new bridge in Kandal province’s Takhmao town. Phal Samon, director of the Department of Explosive Remnants of War and Information at the Ministry of Defence, said yesterday a total of 82 de-miners had worked from late March to mid-May searching for UXOs on the 834,000 square metres of land. He added that the UXOs would be properly disposed of and the ground-breaking on the bridge would begin on July 6.
