MP in Kampong Thom flees after killing two teen riders

Kampong Thom provincial police are on the lookout for a senior Military Police officer in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident on Saturday in Santuk district’s Pur commune.

Provincial traffic police chief Rom Sovichea said Monday that Suos Sovanna, 49, who heads the Military Police’s security office 601 in Steung Sen City’s Rotes commune, was driving a car at high speed when he hit and ran over two teenagers who were travelling on a motorbike, killing them instantly.

The victims were identified as Kong Makara, 18, and Heng Kemhan, 19, both from Santuk district. Sovichea said the suspect was still at large but had sent a representative to handle the case.

“[Sovanna’s] representative is dealing with the victims’ families, but we won’t allow any compromise while the case proceeds,” he said.
