New flyover planned for intersection of St 2004 and Russian Blvd

The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration plans to build a new flyover at the intersection between St 2004 and Russian Federation Blvd near Century Plaza Market to the east of the Phnom Penh International Airport in Por Sen Chey district.

Construction is likely to begin after the flyover and underpass at the Chaom Chao roundabout located at the west corner of the airport is inaugurated, said municipal governor Khuong Sreng during a virtual meeting with municipal authorities on December 20.

According to Sreng, the intersection where the new flyover will be constructed in Kakab I commune has severe traffic jams nearly every day.

“It will facilitate traffic for people crossing St 2004 and those travelling on Russian Federation Blvd and St 2011. Right now the site has traffic jams every day so the new flyover will reduce congestion,” he said.

Sreng said the municipality has studied the project and plans to proceed once the construction of the Chaom Chao interchange is finished. He said it is nearing completion and will be put into official use soon.
