A fire destroyed at least 33 homes in Chak Angre Leu commune near Phnom Penh by the
Monivong Bridge on November 5. The blaze began from what residents said were burning
incense candles. Police said six firetrucks arrived to fight the fire. Several residents
claimed the firemen demanded about $150 before attempting to douse the flames. The
firemen denied the accusations.
