Phnom Penh police set to enforce curfew

Phnom Penh municipal authorities will strictly enforce the two-week, 8pm-5am curfew imposed on April 1 as part of preventive measures to contain the ongoing outbreak of Covid-19, officials said.

Municipal police spokesman San Sokseyha told The Post on April 2 that on the first day joint forces were only deployed to warn people of administrative and legal measures to be taken against those who violate the curfew.

«We will enforce the directive in accordance with the law starting tonight [April 2],» he said.

Sokseyha said violators will have their vehicles impounded and are required to self-quarantine at their home for 14 days under the monitoring of the local authorities.

According to the directive issued by Phnom Penh governor Khuong Sreng, the curfew is effective through April 14.
