Prime Minister Hun Sen on August 11 celebrated a 100-day service to honour the passing of his older brother Hun Neng, chairman of the National Assembly’s (NA) 4th Commission who passed away in May.

At the ceremony, Hun Sen said the family had offered candles, incense, flowers, food and drinks at the his stupa in the compound of the Phnom Bros Mountain in Ampil commune’s Andoung Chros village of Kampong Cham province’s Kampong Siem district.

“We conducted prayers to facilitate the journey of the soul of the late Hun Neng into the afterlife. May his soul rest in peace,” said the premier’s social media post.

Hun Neng served as deputy governor of Kampong Cham province before being elected a member of the NA’s Standing Committee and chairman of the 4th Commission on Interior, National Defence and Public Works. He passed away on May 5, at the age of 72.

His body was buried on May 9 at Wat Sovankiri Rattanak Phnom Bros in Kampong Cham. His funeral brought together dignitaries, high-ranking officials, NA members, civil servants, members of the armed forces and several hundred people.

King Norodom Sihamoni on May 7 bestowed upon the late Hun Neng the royal title of Samdech Udom Tep Nhean.
