Gunmen on the run after shooting

Battambong town police are searching for a group of gunmen after they were accused of shooting a 21-year-old man on Tuesday in Battambang province. Police said about five armed men drove their motorbikes to the scene and called for a man known as “Bros” to come out, but the man was not home and his friend showed up instead. One of the group shot him with a pistol and escaped, seriously injuring the victim’s left hand before he was hospitalised. Police claimed that the motive for the attack was drug-related.

Siem Reap robbery suspect in custody

SIEM Reap provincial police arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of stealing a motorbike in Kampong Thom province on Tuesday. Police said the suspect stole the motorbike during a dance party in Kampong Svay district and attempted to sell it in Siem Reap province. Patrolling police officers in Siem Reap town stopped the man in front of a market to question him after he reportedly “looked suspicious”. The man was arrested and sent to the court.

Glance leads to violence in Kampong Thom

MILITARY police apprehended a 25-year-old suspect after he allegedly injured a 28-year-old man on Monday in Kampong Thom province’s Baray district. Police said that the suspect was part of a gang in the village and that the victim merely looked at the suspect, which caused him to attack him. The suspect was sent to the military police office and will be sent to the court, while police are searching for other suspects.

Ex-soldier busted for threatening villagers

VILLAGERS in Battambang’s Ratanak Mondul district detained a 55-year-old man and turned him over to police after he allegedly threatened them with a gun during a party. Police claim the suspect used a loaded pistol to threaten the villagers. The suspect used to work as a soldier in Battambang, but police said he had been removed from his unit. Police are preparing documents to send him to provincial court.

One detained over theft of laptop

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was arrested last Wednesday after a 31-year-old man accused him of stealing his laptop in Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet town. Police said the suspect stole the laptop from the victim’s rented room. Police confiscated the laptop and returned it to the victim. The suspect has since been sent to provincial court.
