Kratie province’s Sambor district police are searching for two suspects after a man was fatally stabbed in the early hours of Monday morning in Kbal Damrei commune’s Chonghorb village.

Sambor district police chief Bun Chhoeun told The Post on Tuesday that police had established the identities of the two people responsible for the killing, with a hunt now underway to find them.

“Police officers are searching for the two suspects to bring them to justice.

“It was so dark on the night of the incident that the suspects were able to escape easily,” he said.

Chhoeun said the victim was a 20-year-old from Sambor district’s Kbal Damrei commune.

He said the two suspects, both in their 20s, were from O’Russey commune.

Chhoeun said the victim and four friends were travelling on two motorbikes on the night of the incident when they stopped to talk.

The two suspects rode up to the five men on another motorbike and began taunting them.

Chhoeun said the suspects then drove off, but the victim and his friends gave chase and caught up with them.

All three motorbikes eventually stopped and the men began arguing.

A scuffle ensued, Chhoeun said, with one of the two suspects taking a knife from his motorbike.

He returned to the melee and stabbed Vutha in the stomach, killing him on the spot.

“Based on what the victim’s friends told us, there had only been a minor altercation,” Chhoeun said.
