Sen Sok district police are probing the cause of a 32-year-old private security guard’s death after he was found lying in a pool of blood on Monday, in Trapaing Chhouk village, in Sen Sok district’s O’Bek Ka’am commune in the capital.

He died en route to the hospital as the back of the victim’s head and face were hit with a blunt object.

Sen Sok district police chief Hour Meng Vang told The Post on Wednesday that police specialists had been called in to help investigate the death of Chea Kimheng, from Battambang province, who lived in a rented house in O’Bek Ka’am commune.

He said residents found Kimheng lying in a pool of blood at the scene and reported the matter to the O’Bek Ka’am commune police.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found that he was still alive and rushed him to the Preah Kossamak hospital, but he died on arrival.

Meng Vang said: “Our specialist police officers are investigating Kimheng’s cause of death because his money and valuables were still on his body.

“There was a wound on the back of his head, as though he was hit by a blunt object. We have not determined if his injuries were the result of a robbery, revenge attack, or traffic accident.

“We are looking into what caused him to be in the state in which he was found. If we determine that he was murdered, we will look for the perpetrator.”

O’Bek Ka’am commune police chief Neang Phally said police were questioning the victim’s relatives and friends, but investigations had not yet yielded any concrete clues.

The victim’s body was handed over to the family for the last rites in his hometown in Battambang province after the autopsy was conducted, he said.

“After receiving the report, we arrived at the scene and found Kimheng still breathing. We rushed him to the Preah Kossamak hospital but he died upon arrival,” said Phally.

O’Bek Ka’am commune chief Yim Rath said on Wednesday that he received the news of Kimheng’s mishap and that he was rushed to the hospital, but was not aware he had died.

“The police were also looking for his family, but that is all I know,” he said.
