PP man detained for alleged ‘terror attempt’

A man was arrested on Thursday in Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district for an alleged “terror attempt”.

The Ministry of Interior’s Anti-Terrorism Department and municipal crime police arrested the man – identified as Peng Ra – on suspicion of attempting to commit a terror act against the government.

Anti-Terrorism Department deputy director Mom Sitha said his team is questioning the man.

The arrest was ordered by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and National Police chief Neth Sarvoeun, said a statement published on the latter’s website. It also noted that the suspect had attempted to use an unspecified explosive device to topple the government.
