Preah Sihanouk provincial governor Kuoch Chamroeun confirmed that Cambodia will hold the Sea Festival and the Most Beautiful Beach Club in the World conference from December 9-14 in Preah Sihanouk Province.

Chamroeun made the assertion at a September 10 working meeting to organise the 16th General Assembly of the World’s Most Beautiful Beach Club in Preah Sihanouk, presided over by Minister of Tourism Thong Khon and Bruno Bodard, director-general of the club.

He said that a meeting scheduled for earlier this year had had been delayed due to the risk of Covid-19, which had tested Cambodia’s national and sub-national leadership capacity.

“I believe the issues we faced earlier are no longer capable of hamstringing our plans. We have now held several meetings related to the Sea Festival arrangements, as well as the conference,” he said.

Chamroeun added that Cambodia had now reopened safely for tourists and investors. Although the virus continues to spread, thanks to safety measures, it no longer posed the threat it once did.

The Sea Festival is a major event for the coastal provinces and would attract guests from all over the world. The Beach Club Conference would make the event even more exciting and demonstrates the government’s efforts to manage peacekeeping and develop local infrastructure, he said.

“On behalf of the provincial administration, I ask people to support and enjoy the upcoming General Assembly of the Beach Club and the Sea Festival. Under the direction of Minister Thong Khon, the success of the events will made them a source of national pride. We hope to earn plaudits from our national and international guests and look forward to conferring with the director general of the beach club,” he said.

Following the meeting, Bodard said that Preah Sihanouk has clean roads, and would provide a safe environment for the beach club conference. The event would be a fantastic opportunity to join the Sea Festival and experience the very best of Cambodian seafood.

“In terms of Covid-19, Cambodia has demonstrated the courage to host major events – like international conferences and the reception of the Wasterdam vessel at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port,” he said.

“We are pleased to be able to cooperate with the Ministry of Tourism to organise this conference. We recently held one in Nha Trang, Vietnam, and have no doubt that any of the coastal provinces of Cambodia will be as suitable,” he added.

He said the event has become an occasion which attracts national and international tourists to the coastal regions of the Kingdom.
