A technical team from the Department of Public Works and Transport in Preah Sihanouk province repaired rainwater drainage pipe and sewer systems to prevent wastewater from flowing into the sea after finding that the systems were not at the same height.
The repairs to the systems began after the technical team checked that the rain drainage and sewer pipes along St 300 and the pipes to release the wastewater were not the same height and the sewer pipes along St 500 and the pipes to release rainwater were the same height.
In a press release, the provincial administration said that having looked at the problem the technical team from the Department of Public Works and Transport in Preah Sihanouk province carried out the repairs to the systems and removed corrugated rubber pipes and replaced them with high-quality pipes to prevent damage in the future.
The press release read that the next work to be done is installing water control valves to prevent water from flowing in the dry season so they are ready to open when necessary. In the rainy season, the final task is to divert the wastewater flowing through the damaged corrugated pipe into the temporary drainage system at the Ochheuteal pumping station while repairs take place.
The technical team checked on January 10 that the wastewater wasn’t flowing into the sea through the pipes in order to release rainwater from O’Sdech Moek at Ochheuteal beach in commune IV’s village IV of Preah Sihanouk province’s Sihanoukville.
