The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications reiterated its call for the public to regularly use the "Stop Covid" QR Code to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

All public and state institutions, businesses, restaurants and other venues need to adhere to the QR code system to monitor the flow of patrons for contact tracing purpose, the ministry said in a notice on July 1.

Venue owners are advised to put a staffer on standby at the entrance to ensure that all patrons properly scan the QR code before entering their locations.

The ministry said the QR code system should be applied as part of the "new normal" amid the pandemic to ensure public safety. It explained that through the system, people can be notified timely in case an infection has been detected at a location they have visited or if they have been exposed to the virus.
