Officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport held a December 1 meeting to examine and discuss the draft general technical conditions for the construction of sewage systems and the draft national policy on wastewater treatment plants to encourage preparations for these important projects.

Ministry secretary of state Ros Vanna chaired the meeting, with the participation of representatives of Egis Group and relevant officials.

The representatives of Egis Group acted as consultants and compiled the draft. Their representatives briefed the attendees on the situation of the study, its methodology, study cases, input, challenges and opportunities for the draft.

They also consulted the draft national policy on wastewater treatment plants and discussed the content of implementing the work, operational methods and maintenance, management and quality control methods.

The participants noted and exchanged viewpoints to encourage preparations and compile the two drafts for effective implementation in the future.

The ministry asked for more time to send the drafts to specialised units for in-depth examination and verification of the drafts. Once this has been completed, a workshop will be scheduled for the relevant parties in the sector to exchange viewpoints and seek additional input to fill in the gaps before seeking final permission from the public works minister.
