Royal Order for German Democrat

His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk bestowed a Royal Award on Dr Peter Schier, out-going

Permanent Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, on May 23.

Schier, who had worked for the Foundation in Cambodia since 1994, was made a Commander

of the Royal Order of Sahametrei.

The Royal Order of Sahametrei was established by the Kingdom in 1948 and is given

as a token of the special friendship of the King and the Cambodian people. It can

be given at the King's pleasure or by recommendation from the government.
