King Father Norodom Sihanouk has asked journalists and other well-wishers to stop requesting audiences with him, saying he is no longer physically able to receive guests. “I am very old and sick. I am not doing politics anymore,” the former monarch said in a letter from Beijing dated Tuesday. “I present my humble excuses to journalists who desire to see me. I am no longer in a condition to give them an audience or receive them for any reason.”
