The Tbong Khmum Provincial Administration has set up a 3ha cemetery in the multi-use area in Ponhea Kraek distict’s Trapeang Phlong commune for Muslims who died from Covid-19.

Provincial hall spokesman Mao Dong said that as of May 2, the province had detected 44 cases of Covid-19. Of the number, 21 had recovered, 22 remained hospitalised and one patient had died.

The province currently has three crematoriums in Ponhea Kraek, Memot district and Suong town. Since community transmission broke out in the province, four villages had been in lockdown – two in Kroch Chhmar district, one in Tbong Khmum district and another in Ponhea Kraek district.

Dongalso said a 46-year-old Cambodian woman had died of acute respiratory failure after the disease caused severe lung inflammationon on April 27 while undergoing treatment at the provincial referral hospital.
