Banteay Meanchey provincial court has charged three people with assaulting a journalist on March 1 while he was pursuing a story on illegal gambling. “They were charged with assault after we called the victim for questioning, and they are temporarily in the provincial prison pending further investigations,” provincial court prosecutor So Vat said Wednesday. Vong Tho, 36, a reporter for the Rasmey Kampuchea newspaper, said he approved of the court’s action, saying it would deter further attacks on journalists.
