Turkey has since 2014 been a top destination for Cambodians wishing to pursue a high school, undergraduate or graduate education.
The number of students is increasing every year, with more than 500 Cambodians having studied in Turkey in various academic fields.
As well as offering the opportunity for Cambodians to study in Turkey, the Turkish government also provides scholarships for students in the Kingdom based on need and academic competence.
Interviews for the eight shortlisted Cambodian students for the “Türkiye Scholarships” programme were held at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey on July 8, with the final decision to be announced in August. The first academic term is to start in mid-September.
“With these scholarships, our aim is to strengthen people-to-people ties and to continue to provide opportunities for Cambodians to study in and experience Turkey,” said HE Ayda Ünlü, the Ambassador of Turkey in Cambodia.
The government-funded scholarship programme is awarded to outstanding students and researchers to pursue full-time or short-term education at top universities in Turkey.
The aim of the Türkiye Scholarships is to build a network of future leaders committed to strengthening cooperation among countries and mutual understanding among societies.
As well as financial support, paid tuition fees, accommodation and health insurance, the Türkiye Scholarships programme also provides academic, social and cultural facilities at all levels of higher education.
Applications for PhDs and bachelor’s and master’s degrees start in January and February of each year, with interviews conducted in June and July.
