A boozed-up motorist making his way home from Svay Rieng city late on Monday night drove his car off a cliff, but luckily sustained only bruises.

A corner proved too great a test of his alcohol-impaired driving abilities and he lost control of his vehicle, coming to rest at the edge of a roadside cliff.

But while drunkenly trying to extricate himself, he put the car in the wrong gear, a mistake which proved to be something of a tipping point.
