Drunken verbal dispute cut short by axe attack

A 27-year-old farmer suffered severe injuries at the hands of an axe-wielding drunk on Monday.

The victim and the 25-year-old suspect were drinking together since noon, before a verbal argument flared up in Battambang’s Ek Phnom district.

The suspect took up an axe in a bid to end the heated argument, striking the victim down.

The bleeding victim was rushed to hospital and police have arrested the suspect, who will face court.
