Man beats on cop who wanted to drink alone

Social graces seemed to be lost on both parties when two men got into a fight in Kandal province over an ignored toast.

Saying he approached an off-duty cop at a Takhmao town pub on Monday night to clink glasses, the suspect was given the cold shoulder and responded with pointed words.

Blows were thrown and the beer swigging boy in blue was left with head injuries while his rival was hauled away for questioning after the fight was broken up.

The drinker cited the shunned cheers for his decidedly uncheerful behaviour.
