A convict's friend allegedly tried to smuggle some methamphetamine to his pal in prison by hiding it inside some beef on Tuesday afternoon.

The friend, a taxi hawker, brought the drug-filled meat during a visit but police sniffed out the trick and found the drugs before the prisoner could receive them.

The man was arrested and sent to the police office straight away.
