Cops detain pair for stabbing motodop
TWO 17-year-olds were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stabbing a motodop five times and stealing his motorbike in the capital’s Tuol Kork district. Police said that the suspects caught a ride from the motodop, instructing him to take them to a quiet place, where they stabbed him five times and escaped with his motorbike. The suspects were captured by authorities after the motodop’s family filed a complaint.

Alleged thief on motorbike captured
A UNIVERSITY student was one of two suspected thieves arrested by police on Monday for allegedly stealing a necklace from a 27-year-old woman in Phnom Penh’s Russei Keo district. Police said the suspected thieves were on a motorbike and stole the necklace from the woman while she was riding on another motorbike with her husband.  The thieves eventually crashed their motorbike after being pursued by the victim’s husband and authorities.  One of the suspects successfully fled the scene, while the 23-year-old was apprehended by authorities. The necklace was returned to the victim.

Suspected burglar slices guard in neck
A TEENAGER was arrested by police on Monday for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old apartment building security guard in Sihanoukville. Police said the 18-year-old suspect was attempting to burglarise apartments within a complex when one of the apartment’s owners saw him and shouted to the security guard for help. As the suspect tried to escape, he stabbed the security guard in the neck with a short knife. Police eventually apprehended the suspect. The security guard was sent to hospital.

Police catch illegal timber smuggler
POLICE arrested a 24-year-old man on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to transport illegal timber in Pursat province’s Krakor district. Police said the suspect tried to transport the logs on a bus when they arrested him and confiscated 16 logs. The suspect was sent to court to await trial.

Suspected cell phone thief nabbed by officers
A 16-YEAR-OLD male was arrested by police on Monday for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from an 18-year-old in Kampong Chhnang province’s Kampong Chhnang district. Police said the suspected thief stole the phone and ran away while the victim was talking on it. Nearby police who observed the incident quickly apprehended the suspect and sent him to jail to await trial. The phone was returned to its rightful owner.
