A scorned wife was arrested on Tuesday for attacking her husband’s mistress in Phnom Penh. The husband, an anti-drug-trafficking police official, had not gone home for a few weeks, staying instead with his mistress. His enraged wife, accompanied by one of their daughters, went to the mistress’s house and smashed her motorbike and front door with a piece of wood. The mistress and the husband came to the door, and the wife slapped the mistress. Police came and arrested all three. The mistress asked for cash from the wife in lieu of filing a complaint.

•Man beats uncle with wood after argument
A 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for drunkenly attacking his uncle with a piece of wood in Kampong Speu’s Odong district. The men had been drinking and argued about who had greater drinking prowess. The nephew took a piece of wood to his uncle’s head, leaving the 42-year-old with a bloody wound. The nephew is in jail awaiting trial.

•Karaoke gunfire leads to arrest of two men
Two men were arrested on Monday after firing a gun in a karaoke parlour in Kandal’s Takmao district. The men were ready to leave and wanted to tip the hostesses in their room. However, one of the hostesses had already left, angering the men, who proceeded to fire two shots at the ceiling and one at the wall. The karaoke parlour owner called police, who arrested the pair but held them for only two hours before releasing them, as they had links to high-ranking government officials. They were later re-arrested.

•Husband gets violent after wife groped
A 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after hitting a 39-year-old man with a piece of wood for groping his wife. The suspect said he was justified in his actions, as the man had drunkenly grabbed his wife’s breasts last Sunday in Phnom Penh’s Sean Sok district. When the couple encountered the molester on Tuesday, the wife told the husband to attack the man to defend her honour. The husband is in jail awaiting trial, and the other man is in hospital.

•Teen arrested after four rob man of phones
An 18-year-old man was arrested for robbing a motorbike driver of his mobile phones on Monday in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district. Witnesses said the driver was sitting on his moto when four men approached him. They hit and kicked him and stole his two mobile phones. The victim shouted for help and a passer-by caught one of the attackers.
