MARCH 25: Oung Ry, 33, was sent to a provincial hospital after three
people axed him as he took his two sisters on a motorbike to a wedding party in
Prek Chik village, Kratie province. Ry's sisters told police three unknown men
appeared from a nearby forest and struck their brother seven times, then escaped
empty-handed.
MARCH 25: Police arrested a married man, Hurn Meath,
25, after he was accused of rape in Phnom Dey village, Kampong Speu province.
Police said Meath was accused of raping a 20-year-old woman, a garment worker.
Meath denied the charge and said the woman came to his house and agreed to have
sex with him. He told police it was the third time they had had sex
together.
MARCH 25: A 14-year-old boy was arrested for questioning
after Koeun Khit, 29, accused him of raping her 3-year-old daughter at 10:15am
in Boeng Raing commune, Battambang province. The woman told police she came upon
her crying daughter while the boy was raping her inside the
house.
MARCH 26: Ngoy Sarim, 47, a moneychanger, was shot dead
during a robbery at 6:10pm while he rode home on a motorbike from Chbar Ampov
market where he worked in Doeum Ampil village, Phnom Penh. A witness told police
that two gunmen blocked Sarim's path and shot him once in the head with a
handgun, then escaped on a motorbike with his money bag.
MARCH 26:
Heng Leap, 24, was sent to Preah Kossamak hospital after he was shot in the face
as he argued with a motorbike taxi driver, Kong Sarith, 31, at 5:45am in Teuk
Laak commune, Russey Keo district, Phnom Penh. A bystander told police Sarith
shot Leap in the face with a K-54 handgun. Police arrested Sarith, who said the
argument happened because Leap tried to overtake him.
MARCH 26: A
motorbike taxi driver, Ouk Savoeun, 33, was sent to Calmette Hospital for
treatment after his passenger axed him during a robbery at 9pm in Boeng Salang
village, Phnom Penh. Police said the robber chopped Savoeun many times in the
head with a hatchet then escaped on his bike.
MARCH 27: Police
came to examine the body of Leng Vith, 37, after he was found in the early
morning on farmland in Trapaing Kou village, Kampong Cham province. Police said
Vith was murdered with a knife while hunting grasshoppers the previous night.
Police suspected revenge was the motive because of the savagery of the
killing.
MARCH 27: Leng Phalla, 44, a deputy chief of the
municipal economic police office, was robbed while parking a car in front of his
house in Monorom commune, Phnom Penh. A passenger said one of two robbers shot
Phalla once in the stomach then escaped on a motorbike after stealing his mobile
phone and $500 in cash. Phalla was taken to Calmette Hospital by his
family.
MARCH 27: Khan Sarin, 28, was sent to Calmette Hospital
for surgery after three people shot him in a nighttime robbery while driving a
motorbike in Tonle Bassac commune, Phnom Penh. Police said the robbers shot
Sarin twice in the chest and the stomach with a K-59 handgun then escaped on his
bike.
MARCH 28: Police took Sun Lynin, 20, to Calmette Hospital
after his friend attacked him with a knife during an argument over a girl they
were trying to woo in a coffee shop where they were watching a football match on
television in Chraing Chamras commune, Phnom Penh. A bystander told police the
friend chopped Lynin three times in the head and once in the arm then escaped.
MARCH 28: Police are looking for a group of robbers who escaped
after shooting dead Koy Koeun, 37, while they attempted to rob him at midnight
in Sre Ren village, Prey Veng province. Police said the robbers entered Koeun's
house and shot him once in the stomach with a rifle then ran away
empty-handed.
MARCH 28: Kong Chea, 37, was sent to a provincial
hospital for treatment after a buddy, Sai Khon, 43, chopped him once in the head
with a heavy knife during a drinking session at 8:10pm in Samaky village,
Kampong Cham province. Police said the argument happened after Khon accused Chea
of stealing a cow.
MARCH 29: El Rem, 44, was arrested after police
received a complaint from Licadho who accused him of raping two of his daughters
in Sre Preal village, Kampong Cham province. Police said the two daughters aged
10 and 13, had been raped since early last year.
MARCH 29: Oeum
Arth, 26, was arrested when he tried to escape after killing his wife at 11:30am
in Chong Kaosu village, Siem Reap province. Police said the wife, Pheap, 23, who
was three months pregnant, was beaten to death when Arth was drunk. Arth told
police he killed his wife because she refused to give him money to buy more
alcohol.
MARCH 30: Two gunmen escaped on a motorbike after
shooting a mainland Chinese national, Fong Kouy Yu, 43, during a robbery at
5:30pm while he was leaving his car parked in front of the President hotel in
Tuol Kork district, Phnom Penh. Police said Fong was shot in the right ear with
a K-59 handgun after trying to resist the robbers who attempted to steal his
mobile phone.
MARCH 30: Prum Bunthan, 24, was sent to Calmette
Hospital for treatment after being knifed during a nighttime argument in
Kilometer Number 6 commune, Russey Keo district, Phnom Penh. Police said Bunthan
was stabbed three times in the stomach and three times under the arm while
arguing with an unknown man at a dance. A witness said the argument happened
after Bunthan accidentally bumped into the assailant.
APRIL 1:
Chan Mony, 21, was sent to Russian hospital after attempting suicide with his
girlfriend, Srey Sar, 17, who died at 6:30am in Prek Svay village, Kandal.
Police said the couple poisoned themselves with insecticide.
APRIL
1: Sam Saroeun, 42, was axed to death while hunting frogs with his wife at
8:30pm in a ricefield in Chhoeu Neang village, Kampong Speu province. Oun Srey,
42, told police that an unknown man chopped her husband twice in the head then
ran away. Police suspect revenge was the motive because the murderer escaped
empty-handed.
APRIL 2: The body of a 42-year-old man, Siv Ny, was
found in a drain in the early morning in Boeng Trabek village, Phnom Penh.
Police said the man drowned after driving a motorbike into the drain the
previous night.
APRIL 2: Police arrested a woman, Kim Ith, 24, who
killed her husband, Van Chavoan, 22, during a nighttime argument in Psar Chas
commune, Phnom Penh. Ith told police she was angry because Chavoan telephoned
his girlfriend while walking home from a nearby shop where they drank together
in the early evening. Chavoan was stabbed twice in the chest and died
instantly.
APRIL 2: Police are looking for an unknown man who
killed Thim Pheng, 31, at 11:30pm in Taram village, Steung Trang district,
Kampong Cham province. Police said the unknown man shot Pheng in the chest with
an arrow then ran away. The motive for the killing was not
known.
APRIL 2: Sreng Savuth, 37, was killed by lightning during
unseasonally heavy rain at 3:45pm in Yut Phkar village, Takeo province. Police
said Savuth's cows were frightened away by a bolt of lightning. When he went
after them behind the house a second bolt of lightning killed him and the cows.
