Time in the kitchen on the cards for Pailin women

Two Pailin province women were arrested on Tuesday for abandoning their cooking to satisfy a different appetite: their urge to play cards.

Somewhat sexist neighbours in Sala Krao district alerted authorities that a group of four ladies were neglecting their household chores in favour of gambling, so a crackdown was staged.

Half of the players were arrested and hauled to the station where they were lectured and made to sign a paternalistic promise to pay more attention to their children and husbands than jacks, queens and kings.
