The reinstatement of the Kampot-Phnom Penh train was met with much fanfare, but one unlucky driver in Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district clearly missed the memo.

Oblivious to the train’s warning honks as it approached a level crossing yesterday, the driver crossed the tracks, only for the oncoming train to collide with their vehicle.

While no-one was hurt, the driver fled, perhaps out of embarrassment at their lack of situational awareness. The police have taken the car – or its remains – to the district police station.
