A 22-year-old pissed-up trucker apparently took the meaning of the word “gatecrash” too literally in Kampong Cham’s Chamkar Leu district late on Sunday night.

The man was reported to have drunkenly careened into the gate of a pagoda, injuring himself and a passenger, and damaging the front of his truck.

Villagers rudely woken by the noise of the collision helped extricate the pair from the wreckage of the truck’s cabin.
