The General Department of Taxation (GDT) has announced a postponement of the tax payment deadline for properties and unused land tax until October 31.

This decision comes after some property owners failed to submit their tax returns by the previous deadline.

According to tax law, property owners must fulfil their tax obligations by September 30 each year. Failure to do so can result in administrative penalties.

In a notice issued on September 26, the GDT reported that a significant number of people have already settled their taxes for the year on properties and unused land.

However, some have yet to submit their tax returns.

“To accommodate property proprietors willing to submit their tax returns but who have not done so, we have extended the deadline to October 31, 2023. They will not face administrative penalties,” the notice stated.

“Owners who have registered and updated their properties through the GDT’s property data management system and possess property payment cards are requested to pay their taxes by this new deadline. Payments can be made at GDT branches, or online,” the GDT advised.

Payments can be made at various partner banks including ABA Bank, Canadia Bank, Vattanac Bank, Cambodian Public Bank, Sathapana Bank, J Trust Royal Bank, Cambodia Post Bank, ACLEDA Bank, or Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia.

GDT director-general Kong Vibol could not be reached for comment on September 26.
