The 32 top futsal teams in the Kingdom have made it through the regional qualifiers and will contest the knockout stages of the 2023 Ganzberg Cup for a chance to claim the first prize of $15,000.

Although the cup has run for five seasons in the past, this is first time the event has partnered with PNN TV.

Som Chhaya, deputy director-general of the station, expressed his pleasure at the new broadcasting deal and said he was looking forward to some quality futsal.

“We have partnered with the Football Federation of Cambodia to host this spectacular event, with huge prize money. I believe our strongest teams are the equals of any in the region,” he told a December 26 news conference.

The draw has been completed, with the first match kicking off on January 8. All knockout matches will be televised, live from T-Soccer from 8pm on Sundays.

“We have contributed this prize money to promote Cambodian football on the global stage. We also support Khmer boxing and volleyball, among other sports,” said Ganzberg’s Franz Josef Brune.

The draw means the Phnom Penh-based teams will take on provincial teams in the first knock-out rounds.

The quarterfinals will be held on April 2 and 9, following the March 23 semis. The two undefeated teams will meet on April 30 at 8.30pm for a chance to claim the trophy – and the $15,000.
