Preah Sihanouk provincial administration held a meeting to prepare for five sporting events to be held in the coastal province as part of the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games, which will be hosted by Cambodia next year.

Deputy provincial governor Kong Vitanak led the meeting with the participation of authorities at the district and department levels as well as relevant units.

Vitanak said the games would start from February to June next year. Preah Sihanouk will host five events, including sailing and motorboat racing, which have been officially confirmed. Three other sports, including beach volleyball and table tennis have not yet been confirmed.

For all of the events, security and public order must be maintained to ensure public safety and for things to go smoothly.

The deputy governor told the provincial police and authorities to map out a security plan and work with national level authorities to ensure security during the games as well as the security of the sport delegates and athletes.

He also urged all relevant institutions to take advantage of these events as a means to promote Cambodia’s potential as well as encourage travel to Preah Sihanouk province.
