Just four rounds left of the PPP/CTN Fantasy League season and the tension is palpable. Gameweek 34 witnessed 35 goals from a dozen fixtures and it was no surprise to see numerous managers make the century mark.

Liverpool’s hat-trick hero Maxi Rodriguez was the prized possession with 21 points, although few teams would’ve featured the moderately scoring Argentinean midfielder.

A popular choice, however, was Fulham’s Clint Dempsey who mustered 18 points from his two goals in two matches. Fulham teammates Mark Schwarzer (9) and Brede Hangeland (14) also made the Dream team, while the double header of games by Stoke City also allowed Ryan Shawcross (13), Jermaine Pennant (16) and Kenwyne Jones (14) to collect their stars.

Pick of the managerial bunch was Sok Ann with his side Inazuma-Eleven on 111 points. Sok Ann doubled up on double scoring Dempsey as his captain, and made good on Shawcross, Hangeland and Jones as well as an 11-point haul from Fulham’s Danny Murphy.

In accordance with our terms and conditions, however, Sok Ann cannot collect the US$20 phone voucher and T-shirt as he is an employee of sponsors Cellcard.

Therefore, the bounty falls down to Timmy Dubbeldam with his side Dirk Kuyt. Interestingly, had Timmy opted for Dempsey instead of Jonathon Walters as his skipper, he would’ve totalled 118 points for the week.

In the overall table, Nik Ray’s Chap has been usurped by Mick Wade’s Phnom Penh Villa on a total of 1949, although there’s just four points between them and 40 points separating the top ten, so the contest is by no means over for the grand prize of a 3.5G iPad.

Gameweek 35 is a straightforward set of ten ties spread over Saturday and Sunday, with the London derby of Chelsea and Tottenham looming as well as the blockbuster clash of Man United and Arsenal.
Transfer deadline is at 5:30pm tomorrow evening.
