Secretary-general of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia (NPCC), Yi Veasna, praised the attention of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Hun Many, president of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, who helped push the Kingdom’s disabled sporting delegates to receive booster vaccination against Covid-19 before they head to the 11th ASEAN Para Games 2022 in Surakarta, Indonesia.

The secretary-general added that the boosters would help the Cambodian team of disabled athletes to be more confident – and strong enough to compete for medals.

The booster shots were suggested by Prime Minister Hun Sen, chairman of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia, during a July 6 meeting with athletes and delegates.

The prime minister also agreed to organise a charter-flight to transport the athletes to and from the ASEAN Para Games to reduce the risk of infection.

With the full support of the prime minister, Cambodia will send a total of 166 delegates to the games. This includes 115 athletes, 39 coaches, 7 assistant coaches, 7 technical officials and 5 national delegates. They will compete in 11 sports at the Indonesian games. The main party of delegates, led by many, will depart the Kingdom on July 24, and return on August 7.
