Siem Reap’s new pride - The Heritage Walk

It is a spectacular sight strolling along The Heritage Walk mall in Siem Reap which offers the ultimate shopping and entertainment destination for local and foreign visitors.

It is where old and modern architecture conflate, which adds to the mall’s attractive ambiance, visitors could enjoy the best local and international culinary delights and discover the vibrant side of the world-famous temple city.

Siem Reap is offering another fascinating attraction to visitors beyond the magnificent 12-century Angkor Wat, which attracts over two million visitors annually.

The Heritage Walk perched smack in the middle of the city would be an ideal place for tourists to chill after the arduous walk-about around the sprawling Angkor Wat Complex, located about six kilometres from the mall.

“It is modern and trendy, a mix of old and new. It is not 100 per cent shopping mall, its mix of everything from food, shopping and a place to relax. Siem Reap has more to offer to visiting tourists,” The Heritage Walk General Manager Sophea Chan told The Post.

Conveniently located along National Road 6A, close to the busy Pub Street and the Royal Gardens, tourists could just stroll around to enjoy the scenic view of the area, which has undergone major transformation from a laid-back city to a lively tourist attraction.

Developed by the Metro Life Style Development Co. Ltd. and designed by a Khmer architectural firm Five Arc, the mall offers multiple facilities – space for events like wedding or corporate dinners, cinemas, houses well-known food and beverage outlets and popular global fashion brands.

“Our objective is to create a different tourist attraction for Siem Reap. Tourist come here to see the Angkor Wat, to see Cambodia’s heritage and culture."

“And Heritage Walk will offer another option, where they can come and relax and shop around. We try to blend the old and new to give a new tourist product for tourists,” said Sophea.

Big names like Domino’s Pizza, Korean Lotteria, Taiwanese Koi, Tous Les Jours, Starbucks and Swensen’s have opened shops in the mall, giving it a cosmopolitan look and they cater for all types of customers under a single roof.

“Angkor Wat is not enough to attract tourists, we need to create new tourist products, especially to woo young travellers who are travelling more these days,” he added.

Siem Reap is home to about one million people and also a major tourist revenue generated for the national economy.

A visit to The Heritage Walk can be an ideal side-tour for those visiting Siem Reap before returning home.
