A bird flu pandemic would damage Asian economies, according to the Australian Bureau

of Agriculture and Resource Economics (ABARE). It said gross domestic product (GDP)

in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) would fall by 7.1 percent,

and China's by 8.7 percent.
